Slieve Bloom Walking Festival

The Slieve Bloom Walking Festival, held every spring as the bluebells bloom and the hills come alive with birdsong, has been a celebrated event for over two decades. Taking place over the May Bank Holiday weekend, the festival offers a wide variety of walks through scenic woodlands, riversides, and gentle rolling hills. Experienced walk leaders enhance the hikes with stories of local history, geology, and fauna. Walks are available in A, B, and C grades, catering to different levels of ability, with the more strenuous A walks suited to experienced hikers.

Tullamore Show

The Tullamore Show & FBD National Livestock Show, held annually on the second Sunday in August, is Ireland’s premier agricultural event. It draws top cattle, sheep, and equine breeders from across the country, alongside over 1,000 competitors in various categories, with a total prize fund of €175,000. As Ireland’s largest one-day show, it attracts around 60,000 visitors each year and features 700 trade stands, showcasing everything from agriculture and farm machinery to home industries, innovation, and forestry.
