Embark on an adventure to the Slieve Bloom and be inspired by the breath-taking scenery and intriguing stories
When you explore the mountains, you will also discover a mountain of stories and secrets. Legend says the mountains have a link to none other than the famous Irish warrior Fionn MacCumhaill (Finn MacCool), who led the band of Irish warriors known as the Fianna and created the Giant’s Causeway. As a baby, Fionn was left in the care of his druidess aunt and a warrior woman called Liath Luachra who raised him in secret within the forests of the Slieve Bloom, teaching him how to hunt and fight from an early age. Visit the very forests where FionnMac Cumhaill started his journey to become the great warrior that he was!
Where bird song and the gentle trickling of flowing streams echo through the forest. Where the occasional deer and fawn wander freely and happily through the wooded valleys. And, where the sweeping views across the mountains and over rugged hills will take your breath away. There is no better place to feel at peace; and yet, there is no better place to make you feel alive.
